A benefit for Abilities Unlimited, "A non-proift organization"

In February of 2007 Mayor Mufi Hannemann and Abilities Unlimited announced the traditional “Taste of Honolulu” festival will continue as “The Flavors of Honolulu” and will continue to be held at the Frank F. Fasi Civic Center Grounds.

The festival is be produced by Abilities Unlimited, also known as Winners At Work, Inc., an organization that has served people with disabilities, placing them in the workforce since 1983.  “As a local organization, 100 percent of the funds raised by ‘The Flavors of Honolulu’ will remain in our community,” said John Henry Felix, chairman of Abilities Unlimited.

“The Flavors of Honolulu” will continue to be the premier food and entertainment event, providing a festive multicultural experience for the community.  The festival will feature the finest food from a wide variety of the best local restaurants.  Featured personalities will always include the best in local and national entertainers and performing artists. 

Mayor Mufi Hannemann said, “The City and County of Honolulu is proud to continue this great tradition of supporting individuals with disabilities while bringing the community together to enjoy the best of multicultural food and entertainment with The Flavors of Honolulu.”

 Chairman Felix said, “Abilities Unlimited is committed to providing our city with a first-rate family festival of food and fun.  We are extremely grateful to the Mayor for his support and generosity in providing this excellent venue to help individuals with disabilities become self-sufficient through home and community-based employment services.”
